Ivy Busting with Growing City

When a non-native, invasive plant species such as English ivy (Hedera helix) is introduced into an ecosystem such as Stanley Park, it spreads rapidly, out-competing native vegetation and compromising natural shelter and food for wildlife.

On Sunday March 28th at 12:30pm we will be joining the Stanley Park Ecology Society for an afternoon of fighting off the suffocating clutches of Poison English Ivy!

Our First Article!

We recently had the pleasure to guest-blog on CYBF's great blog - check out our article on "Top Five Tips from a New Entrepreneur" and let us know what you think!

We had an awesome time shooting some of our favourite green labels with Sylvana D'Angelo. It was a beautiful Vancouver winter afternoon - partly sunny, breezy and just brisk enough to warrant jumping-jacks and a quick race around the park. We felt like real athletes, except for the whole 'good at sports' thing.

Special thanks to Aritzia, Alternative Apparel, Ashley Watson Recycled Leather, Dotted Loop, Sappho Cosmetics, Vincent Park and Eco Fashion Week for making the experience a real pleasure! We're excited to be included in this great project. The effort you're making to go beyond the expected and support a clothing industry that has style and the world in mind is inspiring!

Coming to a university near you!

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is launching a campaign with Fokus Media Internet Kiosks to let students across Canada know that entrepreneurship is a real choice and CYBF can make it an easier one.  We're very excited and proud to be the faces of the campaign! So next time you're cruising the halls, make sure to check us out - on-screen.

For more information on how CYBF can help you or someone you know, go to CYBF.ca. We definitely recommend it! They've prevented us from having to learn everything the hard way.

Prepare to be dazzled - not only by our surrrious MCing skillz, but by the venue, the performers and of course, by the fashion!

Check out the Vancouver Eco Fashion Week website to reserve your tickets and to get all the decadent details.

North Shore Sustainability Dialogue

What to learn more about sustainable urban development? We do!

This Saturday, Legacy North Shore will be hosting a panel discussion and presentation that could help answer some questions you have about how we can develop our communities sustainably.

The panellists include Dr. Freda Pagani; former Director of Sustainability Office UBC, Councillor Guy Heywood and City of North Vancouver Martin Kruysse, Economic Development Officer, District of North Vancouver.

These cats know what they're talking about, so we're really curious to hear how they envision the North Shore of the future!

We recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Evolution 107.9 fm about Growing City - check it out!

As everyone knows, we're very proud members of CYBF and we were thrilled that they chose to profile us! The CYBF program is an amazing opportunity for anybody dreaming of being an entrepreneur - not only do they provide extremely low-interest start-up loans, they also match you with an experienced mentor for 2 years!
